So far this is the worst radio I ever used. It has so many problems and quirks I'd have to write a book to list them all! I don't think this company has ever made a radio before and tried to sell it. It's like they saw a photo of a radio once or someone described one on the phone and they tried to make one without ever have seen one work! How do you get SSB to work anyway?

Can I use my ftm 500 as a node and use my ft3 d to talk through my 500 node what’s the set up? I have my 500 set up on my computer and working that way. Thanks for any help. Not sure about frequency set up on the 500 and the ht to make this work thanks Steve WD8BQS

Sadly when you open it to switch the 15 and 12 meters your warranty goes away. Your radio is NOW out of warranty? I found out the warranty rule will not apply.

For me not being able to put a a European SIM card is a killer. I already have a radio that receives every thing else so not worth getting.

hi, thanks for introducing the qt80 radio! My question: on the 15 meter band the power output on the qt80 is only 10-15 Watt (USB, LSB) on maximum power setting. On the other bands there is full performance on USB and LSB. Is this normal or does my device not seem to be working properly? NOTE TO ALL; ACTUAL "REVIEW" BEGINS AT 2:20. However, no actual testing was performed! I got one from Amazon, my test results as follows: HIGH advertised 10W, actual radio output 6W MEDIUM advertised 5W, actual radio output 3.5W LOW advertised 1W, actual radio output 3.5W (not a typo) My conclusion: false advertising, NOT a 10W radio, I returned mine. AVOID THIS JUNK!

Search Alabama with the radio. It shows 20 stations. The aggregator is putrid. and the "voice search" is worse. So easy with any skytune radio. The internet search and store feature has much to be desired.

Does it recieve airband?

Amateur Radio is on its last hurrah. The romance of talking to somebody on the other side of the world, had been buried with the likes of facetime on mobile phones. Time to move on. Why spend thousands of pounds on equipment and go through exams hoping to hear somebody, when all they have to do is register their phone number and you could pick who you want to facetime. Most of the major radio stations are now on internet, so SW listening is dead too. Sure, there will always be a place for radio comms, but once those oldies keeping the nets going at the weekend are gone, the bands will be very quiet indeed. Fun while it lasted, but the youth of today have other ways of talking to each other- on a phone.
